Chasing Harvest Central Otago Pinot Noir 2022

Our top wine and a single vineyard expression from the cool Alexandra sub-region that shows finesse, elegance and perfume.

This wine is made with our low intervention gentle extraction approach to produce our own unique expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir. The wine features perfumed aromas of dark cherry, pomegranate, subtle savory herb, rose petal, earthy mineral notes with a rich elegant texture, delicate fine grained tannin and a long lingering finish.

Sourced from a single vineyard in the most southerly cool sub-region of Alexandra from a grower we've know from our first days in the Central Otago region.

Hand harvested and sorted in the winery, 15% whole cluster on the bottom of the ferment, destemmed grapes on top. Gently extracted with cooler fermentation temperatures and a gentle wetting of cap just once per day. Moderately long steeping on the skins, 22 days to build depth and structure and then gently pressed.

Aged in french oak barrels of 2nd and 3rd fill to not have any overt oakiness, MLF in barrel and left on the lees, racked just prior to bottling and unfined and unfiltered at bottling.
