Description
A quintessential hand-picked Chardonnay from the Hawke’s Bay. Careful pressing, fermented and aged in new barrique with well-timed bâtonnage, has produced a full and rich wine.
A bold bouquet filled with aromas of baked nuts and roasted peaches, fresh nectarine and Brazil nut butter. The oak is smokey and new with an earthy dry-stone quality. Full-bodied, creamy, toasty and delicious with flavours of stone fruits and ripe grapefruit peel, coat the palate with vanilla and Brazil nut wood flavours. Fine tannins and medium acid line finish with a creamy texture with weight and power.

Vineyard
Oban Station is situated in the rolling hills of Raukawa, Hawke’s Bay. This land has been farmed by the Richmond family for generations with the first vines planted in the early 1990’s.
The vineyard is planted on a North-North East facing steep hillside that gives it a great sun aspect, coupled with the wind coming over the hill, blowing away any potentially damaging frosts. The site was chosen due to its distinctive limestone and free draining loam soils, akin to Burgundy, and associated with quality. Its unique topography and soils ensure that only the best fruit comes off this block .
Vinification
Some barrel, using both Indigenous and cultured yeast
