Description

Vivacious - a wine which expresses the full spectrum of Marlborough. From the sun-baked, ancient riverbeds of the Wairau to the cool, dry terraces of the Awatere Valley - tropical punch meets herbal intensity and varietal purity with signature Savvie sweat.

A passionfruit, pineapple and grapefruit medley dressed in dried sage, blackcurrant bud and gooseberry. The big, mouth-filling palate is restrained by chalky acidity which gives length and structure while subtle minerality and capsicum notes bring both complexity and Sauvignon typicity.

Vineyard

Select vineyards from the Wairau Valley (85%) and Awatere (15%) Valleys. A Maritime climate which is typified by hot days and cool nights and boasts the highest number of sunshine hours in the country. Taken from Wine Marlborough - Wairau Valley: The soils here are naturally free draining and range from old stony riverbeds to fine, deep, alluvial soils. The Richmond Ranges and Wither Hills protect the Wairau Valley from incoming rain. Taken from Wine Marlborough - Awatere Valley: Marlborough’s driest, coolest, and windiest subregion is also dominated by its river and flood plains. Dramatic river terraces have been carved out, creating free draining sites with alluvial gravels along the banks of the river and clay and sandstone subsoils on the wider river plains.

Vinification

Harvest Method: Machine-Harvested in the early hours when grapes are cool for aroma and flavour preservation. Processing: Destemmed, pressed and floated to clarify the juice as swiftly and gently as possible. Fermentation: Fermented in stainless steel tanks with a selection of (thiol) aroma enhancing yeast strains.

Maturation

3 months ageing on light lees to impart texture and richness

Bottling

Closure: Screw top
