Description

The 2023 Seifried Nelson Sauvignon Blanc is from our Brightwater vineyard. The fruit was pure, clean and concentrated at harvest. Basil leaf, snow peas and passionfruit characters to taste. The wine is energetic with bright acidity defining the flavoursome palate and leaving a long tasty finish.

Vineyard

The 2020 Seifried Nelson Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of fruit from our Rabbit Island and Queen Victoria vineyards. Our Rabbit Island Vineyard is situated on a wide river flat. The soil is gravelly sandy loam, which is very sandy and free draining. These vineyards are about 1.5 kilometres from the sea, which helps moderate temperatures. Our Queen Victoria vineyard is located in the Motueka area in the heart of a region known for its apple orchards, kiwifruits and hops. Our grapes are grown on very stony free draining soils giving lovely fruit clarity and varietal intensity.

Vinification

Aromatic and fresh Sauvignon Blanc flavours were encouraged prior to vintage through careful canopy management. The fruit was de-stemmed and pressed immediately after harvest and a cool fermentation was initiated in stainless steel tanks to retain the clean aromatic fruit characters.
