POUNAMU Special Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Description
A range that aims to 'typify Marlborough'. Reminiscent of wet-river stone drying out after a rain shower. Overlaid with hints of pink grapefruit, honey dew melon and snow pea. An undertone of white blossom. Fresh & inviting. Bursting with flavour. Zingy, happy, juicy, mouth-watering. Succulent like a peach. Moreish like exotic fruits (mango). Refreshing like freshly squeezed lemons & limes. A sense of happiness….like ‘sunshine in a glass’. Channel target: e-commerce, retail.

Vineyard
Single Vineyard, Waihopai Valley, Marlborough. Sub-region: ‘Southern Valleys’. Grown on two terraces and three different areas within the single vineyard. The lower terraces contain stony silt loam soils with fine sandy loam topsoil and gravels over alluvial gravels. Considerable stone is evident in the topsoil profile. Upper terraces contain friable silt loams over blocky silt loams on gravels.
Vinification
The fruit was de-stemmed and gently pressed in a pneumatic press. Juice was cold settled then racked and inoculated with cultured yeast. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks so to showcase the natural aromatics of the variety. The fruit was machine harvested in several parcels, only ever in the cool of the night.
