Description
Grown on the Barton Vineyard, from vines 25 years old. A combination of deep alluvial gravels and a blend of many clones grown in a very sheltered spot always rewards us with a classic example of New World PN. Hand harvested fruit, open top fermented using indigenous yeasts in traditional wooden cuvees, hand plunged every 12 hours, vat time of 22 days. Matured in 40% new French oak barriques for 18 months. It was fined to protect the flavours and aid brightness. Bottled without filtration, It has a unique site derived complexity and texture combined with black cherry/plum fruit flavours

Vineyard
Grown in the Martinborough region on the famous Martinborough Terrace. Planted in 1992, with a mix of clones.
Vinification
40% whole cluster, with the remaining fruit destemmed on top. Fermented in a wooden open top cuve. 21 days on skins before being pressed to tank then transferred to French barriques, with 40% new. Aged in barrel for 18 months, before fining without filtration.
