Black Estate Ltd.

We make wine from our three organic vineyards on clay and limestone hillsides of Waipara, North Canterbury. Our names are Pen Naish and Nicholas Brown and we own Black Estate vineyards with our family. In the vineyards and cellar we are rewarded by working with nature. We enjoy practicing biodynamics, now in our first year of Demeter certification. Our wines are made simply to express each of our sites, no additives are added or manipulations made, except for a dash of sulphur at bottling, sometimes none. We strive for our wines to be true to these sites and the season.
